New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Delhi Assembly has officially ceased the use of paper for submissions, bills, and questions, as it prepares to embrace a fully digital format for the forthcoming Winter Session, announced Speaker Vijender Gupta on Tuesday.
Gupta remarked, “Every document we digitise is a promise we keep to the environment,” during the Digital Training Programme conducted at the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
The IT Department officials provided practical training to personnel from various GNCTD departments on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) in anticipation of the Winter Session, which is expected to commence in the third week of December.
Several senior officials from the Legislative Assembly Secretariat were also in attendance. Gupta engaged with the officers and encouraged them to effectively adopt the application, stating that this shift will enhance departmental operations as well as the legislative processes within the Assembly, according to a statement.
Tuesday’s training session included officials from the Social Welfare, Welfare for SC and ST, Cooperative, Election, Law and Justice, Labour, Employment, Development, Art, Culture and Language, Tourism, Industries, Food and Supplies, and Environment, Forest & Wildlife departments, as noted.
Remaining department officials will undergo digital training on Wednesday to ensure complete readiness ahead of the Session.
Gupta expressed optimism that this digital shift will significantly reduce the amount of paper previously used for legislative activities.
He emphasized that bundles of questions and answers, bills, documents presented to the Table, special mentions, and other Assembly matters that were once in print will now be processed exclusively through the NeVA digital module, ensuring timely, efficient, and fully accountable communication between government departments and the Assembly.
The Delhi Legislative Assembly reaffirms its dedication to environmental sustainability, innovation in governance, and the strengthening of democratic institutions, he stated.
By actively participating in this training initiative, Gupta highlighted that the Assembly is making significant strides toward a paperless, future-ready ecosystem that will serve as a benchmark for legislatures nationwide.
