New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) As the formal launch of the E-Vidhan system (Paperless Legislative Assembly) approaches, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed on Saturday that this landmark initiative aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency coincides with her government's complete digitization of file management in the Secretariat.
"It is a moment of pride that, for the first time in history, the Delhi Assembly session from August 4 to 8 will be conducted in a paperless format. This advancement will enable the Assembly to serve as a model for legislative operations utilizing the E-Vidhan framework," CM Gupta shared with reporters.
She emphasized that the swift implementation of E-Vidhan represents a significant achievement, facilitated by the financial support from the Centre and collaborative efforts with the Delhi government.
"This progress exemplifies the policy and administrative reforms occurring in the city, alongside the integration of technology," she stated, adding that the state government has made substantial progress in utilizing e-files and e-signatures within the Secretariat.
CM Gupta noted that the Delhi government is committed to the complete digitization of the Secretariat, having already initiated the transition of all official documents into e-files.
"Delhi is now advancing through the digitization of files. Previously, concerns were raised regarding the state government's intentions and policies due to the absence of e-file processes," she added.
On Sunday, Union Minister of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal will inaugurate the E-Vidhan system and a 500 kW rooftop solar power installation at a ceremonial event on the Assembly grounds.
As part of the event, a trial run of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) will be conducted within the House, providing all Assembly members with a live, hands-on experience of the digital platform ahead of its official rollout.
The participation of all Assembly members in this digital exercise will signify a collective and symbolic shift towards a fully paperless, efficient, and technology-driven legislative process.
With this dual launch, the Delhi Assembly aims to rank among the foremost legislative bodies operating entirely on solar energy while embracing a comprehensive digital legislative framework in line with national governance reforms, stated Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.
