New Delhi, April 14 (NationPress) The Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, is set to travel to Bhubaneswar to gain insights from the successful execution of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which has enabled the Odisha Assembly to embrace a paperless legislative process, as stated by an official on Monday.

The three-day study tour from April 15 to April 17 will provide Speaker Gupta the chance to explore the Odisha Assembly’s digital initiatives.

An official from the Delhi Assembly Secretariat noted that the purpose of this tour is to investigate the best practices, technological frameworks, and operational models that Odisha has effectively employed in realizing NeVA.

During the recent Budget session, Gupta revealed plans for the Delhi Assembly to transition to a paperless format within 100 days.

To support this commitment, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is anticipated to allocate the necessary funds for the implementation of NeVA in Delhi, according to the official.

During the study tour, Gupta will be joined by Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, senior officials from the Delhi Legislative Assembly, and other key personnel tied to the NeVA initiative.

The Speaker expressed optimism that this tour would catalyze the digital transformation of the Delhi Assembly, aiming to establish it as a modern and transparent legislative entity.

Speaker Gupta stated that the Delhi Legislative Assembly is eager to adopt a more transparent, technology-driven, and citizen-focused approach to legislative operations through the prompt implementation of NeVA.

Upon their arrival in Bhubaneswar, the Delhi team will make courtesy visits to Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

On April 16, the delegation will attend meetings with the Committee on NeVA and also meet with Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly Surama Padhy.

The last day of the tour, April 17, will focus on concluding meetings and further discussions with stakeholders involved in the NeVA implementation.

NeVA is a part of the Digital India initiative aimed at revolutionizing the governance framework in India through a paperless and digital legislative process.

This digital initiative allows legislative members to access information such as Bills, notices, questions, and committee reports directly on their devices, thereby removing the necessity for physical paper documents.
