Bhubaneswar, April 15 (NationPress) Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, accompanied by a team, arrived in Bhubaneswar to delve into the workings of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which has enabled the Odisha Assembly to transition to a paperless legislative process, as noted by an official on Tuesday.
The three-day study tour from April 15 to April 17 is designed to provide Speaker Gupta with insights into the digital processes utilized by the Odisha Assembly.
An official from the Delhi Assembly Secretariat stated that the purpose of this visit is to examine the best practices, technological frameworks, and operational models that Odisha has applied to effectively implement NeVA.
Upon arriving in Bhubaneswar, the delegation met with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surma Padhi, and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi.
The Delhi team includes Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, senior officials from the Delhi Assembly, and significant figures involved with the E-Vidhan project.
Odisha CM Manjhi provided the Delhi team with an overview of the state's innovative digital attendance system. This system allows Members of the Legislative Assembly to mark their attendance and access daily proceedings via digital dashboards, further advancing the goal of a paperless Assembly.
In discussions with Odisha Assembly Speaker Padhi, Delhi Speaker Gupta engaged in detailed conversations about the implementation of the E-Vidhan system in Delhi.
Speaker Padhi promised full cooperation and imparted valuable insights from Odisha's recent shift to a paperless legislative process.
In a separate meeting with the Odisha Governor, Speaker Gupta outlined the initiatives undertaken by the Delhi Assembly to transition to full solar power.
He informed the Governor that the Assembly is set to generate 550 kW of solar power, leading to an estimated monthly savings of Rs 15 lakh in electricity expenses.
Encouraged by this model, Odisha Governor Dr Kambhampati expressed an interest in implementing a similar solar energy system at the Raj Bhavan. He praised Delhi's forward-thinking strides in merging technology with environmental sustainability, emphasizing its potential as a model for legislative bodies across the nation.
