New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday criticized the former AAP-led Delhi Assembly for not adopting a Central government-supported technological initiative aimed at promoting paperless operations.
During the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for implementing the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) to facilitate paperless proceedings, he condemned the previous Assembly for failing to adhere to established protocols.
The Union Minister emphasized that now, under the leadership of the BJP and the oversight of Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, the Assembly will operate more effectively and align with all Constitutional mandates.
A tripartite MoU was executed involving officials from the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA), the Delhi Government, and the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat, in the presence of Minister Rijiju and Gupta.
Gupta noted that this initiative seeks to modernize legislative activities, thereby improving accessibility, efficiency, and transparency in governance.
"I appreciate Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju for mobilizing his team to promptly respond to our request for implementing NeVA," Gupta expressed.
He mentioned that a meeting took place with MoPA officials within a day of the request and a month later, the MoU is being signed.
Minister Rijiju deemed the MoU important, stating that utilizing technology for fulfilling Constitutional responsibilities is a revolutionary step.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the motto 'One Nation, One System' and in line with this, the processes in both Parliament and Assembly are being aligned," he remarked.
"It is particularly gratifying that the Delhi Assembly has finally joined the national framework, having previously fallen behind while other states adapted to paperless operations," he added.
"With the signing of the NeVA MoU, I trust that the Assembly will collaborate closely with the Ministry to enhance its efficiency in functioning," he concluded.
