New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) As the Winter Session of the Delhi Assembly approaches, Speaker Vijender Gupta conducted a review of the preparations on Sunday. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the upcoming sessions are marked by orderly discussions and responsible legislative behavior.
“The Winter Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly aims to embody the ideals of orderly discourse, transparency, and responsible legislative conduct,” Gupta stated during his assessment alongside senior officials from the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat and the Public Works Department (PWD).
He instructed the officials to guarantee the seamless operation of the House during the Fourth (Winter) Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly, set to begin on Monday.
This Winter Session will take place from January 5 to 8, commencing with an address from Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena at 11 a.m. on the first day.
On Sunday, Gupta evaluated the Assembly's readiness, focusing on legislative, administrative, and technological setups, alongside senior officials from both the Assembly Secretariat and other departments.
During the review, Gupta inspected the Assembly House's readiness, including seating and desk arrangements for Members, digital infrastructure, and other essential facilities for the smooth execution of legislative proceedings.
Stressing the need for careful planning and inter-departmental collaboration, the Speaker emphasized that all arrangements should uphold the seriousness and decorum expected in House proceedings.
Gupta also highlighted the ongoing focus on technology-driven legislative processes, noting that during this Session, Members of the Legislative Assembly will utilize the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) via iPads placed at their respective tables in the Assembly House. This use of NeVA is anticipated to promote smoother proceedings and enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in legislative work.
He directed the officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and other Assembly officers responsible for House management to prioritize completing all remaining arrangements.
It is noteworthy that the Delhi Legislative Assembly made a complete transition to the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) during the Monsoon Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly. This transition represents a crucial step towards paperless operations, technology-enabled legislative processes, and increased transparency and accessibility for the public.
