New Delhi, Nov 18 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized on Tuesday that social justice transcends being just a policy; it forms the very foundation of her administration's governance framework in the national Capital.
While inaugurating the state-of-the-art District Social Welfare Office (North-West I & II) situated opposite Azadpur Mandi at Indra Nagar, B-Block, she remarked, “Our mission is to guarantee that every resident of Delhi, regardless of their background, can access government welfare initiatives.”
The Chief Minister highlighted that the new office symbolizes the Delhi government’s commitment to social justice and welfare, paving the way for enhanced support for the needy, marginalized, and vulnerable.
Residents can now conveniently access essential services, including old-age pension, widow pension, disability pension, scholarship schemes, handicraft support, grant programs, and various social security initiatives from a single location.
Prominent attendees included Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh, MLA Rajkumar Bhatia, and local community members.
During her address, the Chief Minister revealed that residents from 15 Assembly constituencies would benefit from immediate and direct services provided by this office.
She also noted that the modern facility is designed to enhance the experience of beneficiaries and expedite service delivery.
Minister Singh informed that the construction of the new District Social Welfare Office cost approximately ₹2.14 crore, emphasizing the previous inconvenience caused by operating from a school building in Rohini.
The establishment of two dedicated district offices will ensure beneficiaries enjoy adequate space and improved facilities.
The 15 Assembly constituencies served by this new office include Rithala, Mundka, Kirari, Sultanpur Majra, Mangolpuri, Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Shakur Basti, and Tri Nagar under North-West I; and Narela, Burari, Adarsh Nagar, Bawana, Badli, and Model Town under North-West II.
This district office will oversee the execution of significant social welfare programs initiated by the Delhi Government.
It will act as the sanctioning body for applications submitted through the e-District Portal for financial assistance schemes. Designated officials will review and validate applicant documents, assess eligibility, and authorize financial benefits.
All approved payments will be directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The office will also feature public service counters and a dedicated help desk to assist applicants.
