Itanagar, Nov 18 (NationPress) The Congress party, led by President Mallikarjun Kharge, has made a significant move by endorsing the appointment of presidents for four District Congress Committees (DCCs) in Arunachal Pradesh.
According to a statement from K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the newly appointed presidents for the districts of Upper Siang, Kamle, Kra-Daadi, and Keyi-Panyor have been announced.
Ajong Siboh has been named the president for Upper Siang, Maga Apo for Kamle, Tap Tapum for Kra-Daadi, and Toko Ramsy for Keyi-Panyor.
A leader from Congress in Itanagar mentioned that these appointments are intended to bolster the party's foundation at the grassroots level.
In a related decision, Kharge also sanctioned the appointment of Pinna K. Muklom as the president of the Changlang District Congress Committee, effective immediately.
Venugopal had previously announced Muklom’s role in a separate release.
Earlier this year, Kharge restructured the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and formed various committees, including the Political Affairs Committee and the Pradesh Election Committee. Muklom was appointed as one of the APCC secretaries during this reorganization.
Moreover, over 2,000 individuals recently joined the Congress party at a rally in Kanubari, Longding district, marking one of the most substantial political mobilizations in Arunachal Pradesh in recent memory.
The event, led by Bosiram Siram, the APCC President, and Pangjam Wangsa, attracted senior leaders including A. Chellakumar and Adv. Mathew Antony, the AICC in-charge for Arunachal Pradesh, along with numerous state Congress figures. Supporters from the districts of Changlang, Tirap, and Longding were also in attendance.
Local leaders such as Kehang Social, Pinna Kitnal Singpho, and Tekwa Tangse were present at the gathering.
APCC President Bosiram Siram remarked that the attendance signifies a “renewed trust in Congress’s vision of peace, development, and inclusive governance.” He acknowledged the new members, describing their decision as a “vote of confidence” in the party's recommitment to grassroots politics.
This rally coincided with the Congress’s “Vote Chori (Vote Theft)” signature campaign, a nationwide protest against alleged electoral irregularities.
Congress leaders encouraged party workers and supporters to reinforce the campaign, emphasizing the necessity to protect democratic processes.
