Itanagar, Oct 16 (NationPress) The Congress party's President, Mallikarjun Kharge, has given his nod for the immediate appointment of Pinna K. Muklom as the head of the Changlang District Congress Committee in Arunachal Pradesh.
General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, K. C. Venugopal, confirmed Muklom's new role in a statement. Earlier this year, Kharge had reorganized the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and established various committees, including the Political Affairs Committee, Pradesh Election Committee, Manifesto Committee, and appointed new Office-Bearers and DCC President.
During the APCC's reconstitution, Muklom was appointed as one of the Secretaries. The APCC extended its congratulations to Muklom on her new role as the President of Changlang District.
In a message posted on X, the APCC expressed: “Heartiest Congratulations to Mrs Pinna Kitnal Muklom on her appointment as the new President of DCC, Changlang District.”
This week, over 2,000 individuals joined the Congress party at Kanubari in Longding district, marking one of the most significant political mobilizations in recent years within Arunachal Pradesh.
This large influx is perceived as a show of strength for the party under the leadership of APCC President Bosiram Siram and party leader Pangjam Wangsa in the Northeastern state.
The event attracted senior leaders, including A Chellakumar and Adv. Mathew Antony, who oversees Arunachal Pradesh for the AICC, alongside numerous state Congress leaders.
Supporters from Changlang, Tirap, and Longding districts gathered for the rally, which also featured local figures such as Kehang Social, Pinna Kitnal Singpho, and Tekwa Tangse.
APCC President Bosiram Siram commented that the turnout demonstrated “a renewed trust in Congress’s vision of peace, development, and inclusive governance.”
He welcomed the newcomers, describing their choice as a “vote of confidence” in the party’s return to grassroots politics.
The rally coincided with Congress’s ongoing “Vote Chori” (Vote Theft) signature campaign, a nationwide protest against alleged electoral malpractice.
Congress leaders urged party workers and supporters to rally behind the campaign, highlighting the necessity to safeguard democratic processes.
