Itanagar, Nov 18 (NationPress) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has given the green light for the appointment of presidents for four District Congress Committees (DCCs) in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
In a statement, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K.C. Venugopal unveiled the new leaders for the districts of Upper Siang, Kamle, Kra-Daadi, and Keyi-Panyor.
Ajong Siboh will head the Upper Siang district, Maga Apo is appointed for Kamle, Tap Tapum for Kra-Daadi, and Toko Ramsy for Keyi-Panyor.
A Congress representative in Itanagar remarked that these appointments are part of the party's initiative to enhance its organization at the grassroots.
Previously, Kharge sanctioned the appointment of Pinna K. Muklom as the president of the Changlang District Congress Committee, effective immediately.
Venugopal had shared Muklom’s appointment details in a separate announcement.
Earlier this year, Kharge restructured the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and established several committees, including the Political Affairs Committee and the Pradesh Election Committee, along with appointing office-bearers and DCC presidents. During this restructuring, Muklom was designated as one of the APCC secretaries.
Additionally, over 2,000 individuals joined the Congress at Kanubari in the Longding district, signifying one of the most substantial political mobilizations in Arunachal Pradesh in recent times.
This mass joining event, spearheaded by APCC President Bosiram Siram and party leader Pangjam Wangsa, attracted senior leaders like A. Chellakumar and Adv. Mathew Antony, who is the AICC in-charge for Arunachal Pradesh, along with several other state Congress figures. Supporters from Changlang, Tirap, and Longding districts also participated.
Local figures, including Kehang Social, Pinna Kitnal Singpho, and Tekwa Tangse, were in attendance.
APCC President Bosiram Siram commented that the turnout showcased “renewed trust in Congress’s vision of peace, development, and inclusive governance.” He welcomed the new members, describing their choice as a “vote of confidence” in the party’s revitalized commitment to grassroots politics.
The rally coincided with the Congress’s “Vote Chori (Vote Theft)” signature campaign, a nationwide protest against alleged electoral irregularities.
Congress leaders urged party members and supporters to bolster the campaign, emphasizing the necessity of safeguarding democratic processes.
