New Delhi, Oct 11 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized on Saturday that enhancing government hospitals for the benefit of patients is a paramount objective for her administration.
She remarked that the government is implementing effective measures to guarantee the timely provision of medications, equipment, and facilities in all hospitals, according to an official statement.
CM Gupta also noted that 90 percent of essential medications are currently stocked, and there is an adequate supply of ventilators across all institutions.
The Chief Minister instructed all Medical Superintendents to promptly report any shortages or deficiencies within their facilities. “We will ensure prompt supply,” she assured, adding that funds for enhancing Delhi’s healthcare system are ample.
CM Gupta, accompanied by Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, convened a review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat with Medical Superintendents from all government hospitals.
The meeting addressed matters regarding the availability of medications, equipment, staff, and infrastructure, aiming to tackle operational bottlenecks.
Senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) were also present to ensure timely resolution of construction and repair issues.
The Chief Minister reiterated that hospitals must swiftly communicate their needs to facilitate effective solutions.
She stressed that hospital staff should adopt a compassionate approach towards patients to bolster public trust in government healthcare services.
CM Gupta mandated that no shortages occur in the four critical areas: medications, equipment, staff, and infrastructure.
She also directed that construction and repair challenges be addressed promptly through enhanced collaboration between the Health Department and the PWD.
She underscored that ongoing work must maintain both speed and quality. All hospitals are required to provide time-sensitive reports on repairs, maintenance, medication supply, and staffing ahead of the next review session.
Later, while speaking to the media, the Chief Minister expressed her concern that some hospitals are still utilizing outdated medical machinery.
She announced that the government is procuring advanced diagnostic equipment, including MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, and X-ray machines, through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Additionally, hospital infrastructure is being upgraded through the Chief Minister’s Development Fund.
