Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) A local court has decided to prolong the custody of two individuals implicated in the Red Fort bomb blast case, which tragically resulted in the loss of 11 lives and left many others injured last month.
Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma has granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) an additional 10 days to investigate Yasir Ahmad Dar, while the custody of the other individual, Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla, has been extended for eight days.
As per the NIA's findings, Yasir Ahmad Dar, hailing from Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, is the ninth person arrested in relation to this case.
He was taken into custody in New Delhi under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The NIA has disclosed that Yasir played a significant role in the conspiracy behind the car bomb explosion that shook the national capital on November 10. He is said to have actively participated in the conspiracy, having pledged allegiance to execute self-sacrificial operations.
The agency also indicated that Yasir maintained close communication with other suspects, including Dr. Umar Nabi, the deceased perpetrator of the bombing, and Mufti Irfan.
Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla, identified as the eighth accused, was apprehended by an NIA team in Delhi on December 9.
The NIA asserts that he provided logistical support to Umar Nabi and is implicated in the destruction of evidence relevant to the terror attack.
The NIA is diligently pursuing its investigation into the broader conspiracy surrounding the deadly blast, collaborating with various central and state agencies to uncover all connections.
Earlier this month, extensive searches were conducted at locations associated with several suspects in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the seizure of digital devices and other incriminating materials.
These actions followed similar searches targeting prime suspects such as Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Gania and Dr. Shaheen Saeed in Faridabad, Haryana.
The investigation continues to develop as the NIA pushes forward.
