New Delhi, Oct 4 (NationPress) - A Delhi court has scheduled October 8 to make a final ruling regarding a request made by the detained Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who is facing allegations of molesting 17 female students. He is seeking access to medications, Sanatani food, and monk attire while incarcerated.
Judicial Magistrate Pallavi Tyagi acknowledged the response from the Delhi Police concerning the accused's applications and postponed the hearing until October 8.
On this date, the court is anticipated to issue a conclusive order regarding the accused’s request for special accommodations during his judicial custody.
On the preceding Friday, the court remanded the accused, also known as Partha Sarathy, to a 14-day judicial custody.
While remanding him to Tihar Jail, the court instructed the authorities to provisionally supply him with medications and Sanatani food until a final ruling is made on his petition for special privileges in prison.
The list of requested special accommodations by the self-proclaimed monk includes access to books and reading glasses.
'Swami' Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who directs the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management located in the affluent Vasant Kunj area of Delhi, is embroiled in a criminal case for allegedly targeting female students enrolled in postgraduate management diploma programs under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) scholarship category.
Officials reported that the 'Swami' absconded on August 4, shortly after the institute received a complaint from the Indian Air Force (IAF) headquarters accusing him of molesting female students.
On September 28, law enforcement apprehended him at a hotel in Agra. The police subsequently took him back to the institute for questioning before returning him.
Investigators revealed that Chaitanyananda Saraswati would summon female students to his room late at night and would threaten to fail them or lower their grades if they resisted his sexual advances.
The police took Chaitanyananda Saraswati to the 'torture room' on the ground floor of the institution, where he would invite female students for private meetings. To date, police have recorded the testimonies of three wardens from the institute.
According to the complainant, these wardens assisted Chaitanyananda Saraswati in bringing the girls to his room. Recently, the Delhi Police detained two female associates and interrogated them.
