According to the CPCB's classification, an AQI reading of 51 to 100 is 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 is 'moderate', 201 to 300 is 'poor', 301 to 400 is 'very poor', and any readings above 400 are categorized as 'severe'.
On Saturday, the air quality in the national capital fell into the 'severe' range, with an AQI of 385 categorized as 'very poor' reported at 4 p.m. Official updates indicated that pollution levels deteriorated throughout the day, escalating to 390 by 6 p.m. and reaching 391 by 10 p.m.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Sunday morning in Delhi, cautioning residents of dense fog and cold wave-like conditions in the region.
Meteorological specialists have warned that the pollution levels may remain high over the coming days due to a series of western disturbances anticipated to affect north India.
