New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) In a significant operation against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) of the South-East District (SED) of Delhi Police has apprehended two foreign nationals in Govindpuri linked to an international drug syndicate.
The suspects were found in possession of 61.16 grams of MDMA and 36.64 grams of cocaine, with an estimated market value around Rs 10 lakh. The individuals have been identified as Bernadin (39), originally from the Ivory Coast, and Ezekile (33), a citizen of Nigeria.
Both were discovered to be illegally overstaying in India and unemployed, turning to drug peddling as a means of survival.
Following a confidential tip-off received by Head Constable Dharmender, the ANS team, led by Inspector Vishnu Dutt Tiwari and overseen by ACP Dalip Singh, executed a rapid operation on July 31.
A team consisting of Sub-Inspectors Ajeet and Yashpal, along with other personnel, conducted a raid at a location in Gali No. 13, Govindpuri, capturing both individuals. The operation also yielded eight mobile phones, a weighing scale, pouches, packing materials for drug distribution, and cash totaling Rs 10,600.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 427/25 at PS Govindpuri, citing Section 21 of the NDPS Act and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act. Initial inquiries suggest that the duo operated independently, distributing narcotics within the local vicinity.
Authorities are now intensifying their investigation to uncover the broader network responsible for supplying these substances. Although both suspects lacked prior criminal records, their illegal stay in India has raised alarms regarding unchecked foreign overstays contributing to the drug crisis.
The Delhi Police have reaffirmed their dedication to dismantling such networks and have encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities in their communities.
