Los Angeles, Nov 20 (NationPress) Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato has opened up about the significant pressures surrounding marriage. She admitted to feeling that she was "expected to be married by a certain age".
The 33-year-old artist tied the knot with Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes earlier this year, revealing that she experienced societal pressure to wed during her youth, as reported by Female First UK.
In a conversation with Who What Wear, she expressed, "I had anticipated being married by a specific age. Society places all this pressure on you, but it just happened naturally. I'm genuinely happy. I told my husband today, ‘I've never been more in love with you. I didn't realize my affection for you could deepen even further.’ The timing was just right.”
Demi has had previous relationships with figures like Joe Jonas, Wilmer Valderrama, and Max Ehrich, and she believes she has gained valuable insights from her past experiences.
She shared, "In past relationships, I thought, ‘This is the long haul.’ However, I hadn’t focused on taking care of myself. The universe rewards you when you engage in therapeutic work on yourself, and I had to do that. Because of this work, I was prepared for a life on my own, and then I could share it with someone else."
As noted by Female First UK, Demi recently stated that she feels a "responsibility" to be open about her struggles with her fans.
The singer underwent a three-month rehabilitation program in 2010 after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and receiving treatment for bulimia. Demi explained her decision to be transparent about her challenges.
She recalled on the Las Culturistas podcast, "I had a choice to make when I went into treatment for the first time.”
“I experienced a very public outburst at 18, which I discuss in some of my documentaries,” she added.
