Dewas, Dec 5 (NationPress) A significant twist has come to light in the tragic case of liquor contractor Dinesh Makwana, who took his own life nearly a month ago in the Dewas district.
A video allegedly recorded by Makwana before his demise has surfaced on social media, where he claims he faced harassment from an Excise Department official.
Makwana, who resided in Indore, reportedly ingested poison on November 8. He managed five liquor outlets in Dewas.
In the widely circulated video, he expressed that he was experiencing intense financial difficulties and accused Assistant Commissioner of Excise Mandakini Dikshit of extorting money and hindering liquor supply from the warehouse.
He asserted that he had paid Rs 20 lakh to the officer and that monthly demands of Rs 1.5 lakh led him into financial ruin.
Dewas Collector Rituraj Singh acknowledged the video and confirmed that an investigation is underway.
“A case has been registered at the Indore police station. Once the inquiry concludes and the facts are laid bare, suitable action will be taken,” Singh remarked.
According to police sources, Dikshit had previously lodged a complaint on November 24, alleging that Makwana’s family attempted to blackmail her using the video.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.
