New Delhi, July 22 (NationPress) The 15th DGC Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Tournament commenced on Tuesday at the prestigious Delhi Golf Club, attracting over 180 young golfers, aged between 6 and 22 years, for an exciting three-day event.
Players will tackle eighteen holes each day on both the Lodhi and Peacock Courses. The ceremonial tee-off was honored by top junior talents – Kashika Misra, India’s No. 1 in IGU Category A, alongside Deepak Yadav, a record-setting pro who recently achieved a remarkable 10-under par at the NCR Cup.
This tournament is a true test of skill, concentration, and determination, featuring some of India’s most promising young golfers, including Rakshit Dahiya, the recent NCR Cup champion; current IGU merit list leader Kashika Misra; and Shan Alvi, a caddy’s son who just clinched his fifth consecutive IGU title.
Demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity, the Delhi Golf Club has waived entry fees for 30 underprivileged juniors — consisting of 15 children of DGC caddies, 7 participants from Village Jindali supported by The Golf Foundation, and 8 from the Ultimate Foundation.
Mala Bawa, Lady Captain at DGC, expressed, "It is truly inspiring to see such passion and perseverance among the young golfers. Usha’s unwavering support over the years has been pivotal in nurturing emerging talent and promoting inclusivity in golf. The increasing participation from players of diverse backgrounds, including children of caddies, reflects our shared belief that talent can emerge from anywhere, provided it has the right platform."
Usha has collaborated with the DGC for over thirty years, fostering the growth of golf across various categories — from juniors to ladies — and witnessing the emergence of numerous talented golfers throughout the years.
