Seoul (South Korea), May 9 (NationPress) India's Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs kicked off the rain-affected Aramco Korea Championship with scores of 1-over 73 each. Meanwhile, India's other two competitors, Tvesa Malik (79) and Avani Prashanth (79), found themselves tied at T-86, requiring strong performances in the second round to qualify.
Despite being at even par through 17 holes, Diksha slipped from the Top-10 after a bogey on her final hole, ending the day at 1-over and tied for 19th. Pranavi recorded one birdie and two bogeys during her round, also finishing tied for 19th.
The rain presented a challenging scenario for the stars of the Ladies European Tour (LET), with only six competitors managing to finish under par. Perrine Delacour from France and Germany's Patricia Schmidt shared the lead at three-under par, with Delacour also leading the Team event alongside her group at 13-under par.
Diksha began her round on the tenth hole, achieving two birdies and bogeys to reach even par. After a bogey on the first hole of the second nine, she bounced back with a birdie on the fifth but ultimately dropped a shot on her final hole.
Pranavi started strong with a birdie on the tenth hole but faced bogeys on the 15th and sixth holes.
In the first group out, Delacour, teamed with Maha Haddioui, Eleanor Givens, and Polly Mack, set the pace by combining for 14 birdies to achieve a collective score of 13-under par, leading Team Kouskova by one stroke.
Delacour, an Olympian, led her team with five birdies and only two dropped shots, finishing with a round of 69 (-3) at the New Korea Country Club.
Joining her at the top of the Individual leaderboard is LET champion Schmidt, who also made five birdies while recording her only dropped shots at the par-4 1st and par-3 11th.
In the team rankings, Team Dagar is tied for 6th, while Team Urs sits at T-12, which includes Avani as a teammate. Tvesa Malik, part of Team Babnik, stands tied for 24th.
