Johannesburg (South Africa), April 5 (NationPress) Pranavi Urs struggled in the second round of the rain-affected Joburg Ladies Open but successfully made the 36-hole cut alongside Diksha Dagar, who delivered an even-par performance in the second round. With scores of Diksha (71-73) and Pranavi (70-77) at the Par-73 Modderfontein Golf Club, they found themselves in T-22 and T-56 positions, respectively.

Unfortunately, the other two Indian participants, Avani Prashanth (77-74) and Tvesa Malik (77-79), did not make the cut.

After the suspension of Round Two, which occurred a day earlier, the Joburg Ladies Open resumed later, starting at 10 am (local time). The week was marked by heavy rainfall, resulting in a flooded course and the tournament being shortened to 54 holes.

Mimi Rhodes from England leads, having completed her second round over two days. Starting the day five holes in, she enjoyed a bogey-free performance on Saturday, adding four birdies to finish Round Two at an impressive 12-under par.

For Pranavi, the week has been unusual. Initially, she was at 5-under after 13 holes on the first day when play was suspended, and after resuming, she advanced to 6-under with a birdie. However, her fortunes reversed with three consecutive bogeys, ending that round with a score of 70.

In her second round, she recorded four birdies, a triple bogey, and an exciting mix of ups and downs, ultimately carding 77 but making the cut on the line.

Diksha had a flawless first round with two birdies and no bogeys. In her second round, she managed one birdie and two bogeys on the front nine, followed by eight consecutive pars before finishing with a birdie on the 18th for an even-par round, securing her position at T-22.

If Mimi Rhodes claims victory, it would mark her second consecutive win, following her inaugural LET victory at the Ford Women’s NSW Open in Australia just two weeks prior—a dream start for the rookie season. Close behind is South Africa’s Cassandra Alexander at nine under par, tied for T2 with Ireland’s Lauren Walsh.

Two shots back is rookie Kajsa Arwefjall, who also impressed with five birdies on her front nine, finishing at seven-under par. After 36 holes of competition amidst a week filled with uncertainty in Joburg, 64 players made the cut, which fell at one-over-par.
