New Delhi, Jan 29 (NationPress) The Congress' New Delhi Assembly candidate Sandeep Dikshit fiercely criticized Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for his assertion that the Yamuna River was being "poisoned," labeling it a "blatant lie" and calling for a criminal probe into his comments.

Dikshit accused Kejriwal of deceiving the public with unfounded claims, noting that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has already refuted these allegations.

He stated, "This is a very serious statement from his side, and I feel that he has told a white lie. The DJB has denied it. We have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, but more importantly, I have written to the Lieutenant Governor to initiate an enquiry and file an FIR over this," he informed IANS.

The controversy escalated when Kejriwal accused the BJP-led Haryana government of "poisoning" the Yamuna River, which he claimed was affecting Delhi's water supply.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann approached the Election Commission, alleging that the water supplied from Haryana to Delhi contained dangerously high levels of ammonia.

However, Dikshit dismissed Kejriwal's claims, stating, "Arvind Kejriwal has a long history of making false claims. It's nothing new. He believes that the more lies he tells, the more votes he will get. But the truth is, none of his claims have ever been validated. It's unfortunate that someone like him can stand in the political arena and seek votes from the people."

Supporting Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's "Sheesh Mahal" criticism of Kejriwal, Dikshit asserted that the AAP has failed in governance and does not merit remaining in power.

When questioned about which party poses a greater challenge for Congress in the Assembly elections, Dikshit responded, "The BJP and AAP are distinct. We will focus on the Chief Minister who has been managing the government. The Delhi government is not run by the BJP; it is managed by the AAP.

"When we questioned the BJP's governance, the people of Delhi voted them out of the MCD. Now, the people will do the same to AAP due to their governance failures in Delhi."
