New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday branded the AAP-led Delhi government and Arvind Kejriwal as a regime of deception, lies, and unfulfilled promises. He challenged the former Chief Minister to present evidence of the alleged ‘poison’ in the Yamuna water supplied to the city by Haryana.

Shah also criticized Congress leaders – Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge – for their disrespect towards Sanatan Dharam. He remarked, “Ridiculing individuals, including myself, who participated in the Maha Kumbh will not salvage the declining Congress.”

While addressing a large gathering in the Kalkaji constituency post a roadshow, Shah condemned Kejriwal for propagating falsehoods regarding Haryana contaminating the Yamuna water flowing into Delhi and for insinuating that the new BJP administration would terminate welfare programs.

“I assure you that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, no welfare initiative will be halted by the BJP government,” he stated, criticizing AAP leaders for attributing their failures to Covid-19.

On the issue of AAP's allegations concerning ‘poison’ in Yamuna water, Shah claimed this was yet another fabrication by Kejriwal. “I pose a question to the residents of Kalkaji: Is anyone receiving contaminated water from their taps? Upon inquiry with the Delhi Jal Board, their officials confirmed that Kejriwal is lying,” he asserted.

Shah issued three challenges to Kejriwal regarding the tainted water claims: he should provide evidence of Haryana poisoning the Yamuna, specify the type of poison allegedly present in the river, and disclose the order that he claims led to the suspension of water supply to Delhi.

“This tendency of disseminating falsehoods represents a significant low point in politics,” he remarked, urging the residents of Kalkaji to demand evidence from AAP’s candidate and Chief Minister Atishi about the supposed contamination of the Yamuna water.

In his appeal for votes for BJP’s Kalkaji candidate, Ramesh Bidhuri, Shah criticized Kejriwal for failing to fulfill his promises.

“Following Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, he stated he would not establish a political party, yet he formed one within three months; he asserted he wouldn’t accept support from Congress, yet he formed an alliance government with them; he claimed he wouldn’t utilize a government vehicle or residence, yet he did both.”

Shah pointed out that Kejriwal constructed the ₹51 crore Sheesh Mahal, equipped with 16 TVs and adorned with Italian marble.

“While Kejriwal blames Covid-19 for his inability to meet his electoral commitments, the same pandemic did not prevent him from constructing the Sheesh Mahal and drafting a questionable liquor policy,” remarked Shah.

“The funds allocated for Sheesh Mahal represent public money that could have been utilized to enhance educational facilities and increase hospital capacity,” he stated, challenging Kejriwal to immerse himself in the polluted Yamuna and accusing the former Chief Minister of numerous scandals, including the ₹2,000 crore liquor scam over the last decade.

He emphasized the AAP government’s shortcomings in improving air quality, increasing hospital beds, and ensuring a continuous supply of clean water.

The Home Minister expressed his gratitude to be in Kalkaji, a sacred place blessed by Mata Kalka, with the Kalkaji temple nearby.

Shah’s public engagements on Tuesday are setting the stage for PM Modi’s rally in North East Delhi’s Ghonda constituency on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Union Home Minister participated in roadshows, accompanied by New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, covering locations such as Amar Colony Gurudwara under Kasturba Nagar Assembly, Govindpuri in Kalkaji Assembly, and Meethapur Chowk in Badarpur Assembly, as reported by a BJP official.

The voting to elect a new 70-member Delhi Assembly will occur on February 5, with results announced on February 8.
