Dilip Ghosh Critiques West Bengal Police, CBI and ED Take Charge

Kolkata, Dec 14 (NationPress) Former BJP National Vice President Dilip Ghosh stated on Saturday that the central investigating agencies are overseeing the majority of cases in West Bengal due to the incompetence of the state police.

“The CBI and ED are managing most of the cases in the state as the West Bengal Police is ineffective. It is conceivable that the CBI could not file the supplementary charge sheet in the R.G. Kar case due to overwhelming work pressure,” Ghosh remarked.

This statement arises amidst severe criticism faced by the CBI for its inability to submit the charge sheet within 90 days against two suspects accused of tampering with evidence related to the rape and murder of a female junior doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata. Consequently, a special court in Kolkata granted ‘default bail’ to the former and controversial principal of R.G. Kar, Sandip Ghosh, and the former SHO of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal.

However, Dilip Ghosh dismissed claims by the Congress and Left parties suggesting that the CBI’s shortcomings were due to a covert agreement between the leadership of the BJP and Trinamool Congress.

“If there were such an agreement, then former state minister Partha Chatterjee and Jyotipriya Mallick would not be imprisoned. The law treats everyone equally, and the BJP does not interfere in judicial proceedings,” Ghosh asserted.

He acknowledged that it is understandable for the residents of the state to feel discontent towards the CBI and ED.

“However, we must recognize the immense workload faced by the central investigating agencies in West Bengal, where the CBI and ED are dealing with more cases than the state police. These agencies operate on a national level, compounded by a shortage of personnel,” Ghosh explained.
