Drew Barrymore Opens Up About Body Image After Two C-Sections
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, April 7 (NationPress) Drew Barrymore, the renowned Hollywood actress and talk show host, has shared her experiences regarding body image after undergoing two C-sections.
Barrymore, who is a mother to daughters Olive, 13, and Frank, 11, from her previous marriage to Will Kopelman, expressed her empathy for a mother-of-four who appeared on her show and felt uneasy about wearing "form-fitting clothing".
In a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, guest Dawn Benwood received a fashion makeover that moved Barrymore to tears, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
She remarked: "I could strongly relate to your situation. Just the other day, while out for a walk, I was reminded of my own body struggles post-C-section—I'm so affected that I can’t wear many styles of pants anymore."
Barrymore continued, "I was wearing a shorter shirt, and I couldn’t keep my jacket closed. I felt so self-conscious, thinking, 'I hope no one sees this.'"
The actress remarked on how motherhood and the passage of time alter one’s body, stating, "I understand that when you have kids and lead a busy life, your body undergoes changes, and as you age, things are not quite the same anymore."
She added, "Hearing your story took me back to a couple of days ago when I was out with my daughter. I completely understand. Looking at you, I see nothing but your beautiful efforts—something I only recognized because you shared it with us. You look absolutely stunning."
Barrymore also spoke to Dawn’s teenage daughter in the audience, mentioning that her own daughters play a significant role in helping her navigate her fashion insecurities. She stated, "You know, my daughter encourages me to be adventurous in my clothing choices, and often, it makes me feel really good."
While Barrymore acknowledged that she wouldn’t be wearing the jeans that made her feel insecure again, she emphasized that everyone can discover clothing that suits them well.
She concluded with, "I will not wear those particular jeans again, but we all can find outfits that fit us beautifully."
