A young man from Telangana was fatally shot by an assailant at a gas station in Chicago during the early hours of Saturday (Indian time).

Sai Teja Nukarapu (26), who hailed from Khammam district, was shot while working part-time at the gas station. According to reports reaching his family, the assailant fired at him after robbing him of money.

A friend of Sai Teja informed the family about the incident. The assailant fled the scene following the attack.

Sai Teja, who had completed his BBA in India, had relocated to the United States just four months ago to pursue an MS at Concordia University, Wisconsin. He had recently been working part-time at the gas station.

Sai Teja's parents, N. Koteshwar Rao and Vani, residing in Raparthi Nagar, Khammam city, were devastated upon hearing the news. He was their only son.

Member of Telangana Legislative Council, Madhusudan Thatha, visited Sai Teja's parents to offer condolences.

The MLC informed the media that he had contacted the members of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) to seek their assistance in repatriating the body. The body is anticipated to arrive in India next week.

A sense of sorrow enveloped the neighborhood of Sai Teja's family. Many relatives and friends gathered at their home to console his parents and other family members.
