New Delhi, Sep 19 (NationPress) On Friday, India expressed its commitment to offer comprehensive assistance to the family of a 30-year-old Indian technology professional who was tragically shot by local law enforcement in the United States after he was accused of stabbing his roommate with a knife.

“An incident occurred in California. We are actively communicating with the family. We acknowledge that local authorities are conducting an investigation. You may have already seen a video and a statement released by the local police department that outlines the circumstances. We are in continuous contact with the family and will extend all possible support in this situation,” stated Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during a media briefing in New Delhi.

Mohammed Nizamuddin, originally from Mahabubnagar in Telangana, was fatally shot by police on September 3, but his family was only informed of this incident on Thursday.

The young man was shot after he allegedly stabbed his roommate at their residence in Santa Clara. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The roommate also received treatment for injuries sustained during the altercation.

According to the Santa Clara Police, an argument between Nizamuddin and his roommate escalated, culminating in the stabbing. The police responded to a 911 emergency call regarding this incident.

However, Nizamuddin's family claims that he was the one who dialed for police assistance prior to being shot.

Nizamuddin had completed his post-graduate studies in Computer Science at a college in Florida and was employed at a tech firm in Santa Clara, California.

Fifteen days before his untimely death, he took to LinkedIn to express concerns about being racially harassed and not receiving adequate compensation. He also mentioned that, despite being terminated, his former employer had hired a detective to surveil him. His family alleges that the roommate involved in the dispute was the same detective.

“I have been a victim of racial hatred, racial discrimination, racial harassment, torture, wage fraud, wrongful termination, and obstruction of justice. Enough is enough; the mentality of white supremacy/racist white Americans must end,” the techie had posted on LinkedIn.

The family is calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations and the events that led to his tragic death.

Point of View
