New Delhi, July 17 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar engaged with a delegation of Special Envoys from South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung, headed by Kim Boo-kyum, the former Prime Minister of South Korea, on Thursday.
During their discussions, both parties explored avenues for enhancing collaboration in economics, technology, defense, and maritime security, as well as promoting people-to-people exchanges. India expressed its commitment to actively interact with the new South Korean administration to further strengthen the Special Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
“I was pleased to meet the delegation of Special Envoys from the Republic of Korea led by former PM Kim Boo-kyum this morning in Delhi. We discussed cooperation in economics, technology, defense, and maritime security, alongside expanding people-to-people exchanges. India will engage with the new administration actively to enhance our Special Strategic Partnership,” EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
India and South Korea established a 'Strategic Partnership' in 2010, which was upgraded to a 'Special Strategic Partnership' in 2015 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Seoul.
Recently, President Lee Jae Myung appointed special envoys for India, the European Union (EU), France, and Britain as part of broader diplomatic outreach efforts, according to the Presidential Office.
This initiative aims to bolster the framework for summit diplomacy by deploying special envoys who can provide insights into Lee’s policies and convey amicable messages to foster exchanges.
