PNG Users Can Now Easily Surrender LPG Connections from Home, Says Secretary Mittal
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) Individuals who have transitioned to piped natural gas (PNG) can now relinquish their LPG connection from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for a dealership visit. This was announced by Secretary Neeraj Mittal on Friday.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has introduced a new digital platform, MyPNG-D Portal, designed to facilitate the online surrendering of LPG connections for PNG users.
In a recent update shared via the social media platform X, Mittal elaborated that those who have made the switch to PNG can now complete the surrender process without having to visit physical LPG dealerships.
This procedure can be accomplished from home using either a registered mobile number or an LPG ID.
“PNG consumers can surrender their LPG from home. There’s no need to visit the dealership. Just use your registered mobile or your LPG ID,” stated Mittal.
This initiative aims to simplify the surrender process and motivate more consumers to voluntarily relinquish their LPG connections, thereby allowing these connections to be reallocated to households that still lack access to PNG.
The Secretary reported that within just one day of the portal's launch, 1,797 consumers had already surrendered their LPG connections.
He expressed gratitude towards these users for their participation and encouraged others to join the initiative.
“1797 responsible citizens have surrendered their connections since yesterday! A heartfelt thanks to them,” he remarked.
“You too can surrender your LPG connection and assist those who lack access to PNG,” he added.
The government believes that such initiatives will enhance access to cleaner cooking fuel and improve the distribution of LPG connections, especially for those still reliant on traditional fuel sources.
