New Delhi, Nov 15 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) revealed a remarkable advancement in Phase II of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with 95.44 percent of elector-specific Enumeration Forms (EFs) already disseminated across 12 States and Union Territories.
Initiated on November 4 and continuing until December 4, the enumeration process is designed to enhance the accuracy and inclusivity of the electoral database in preparation for the upcoming elections.
As per the latest report from the Election Commission, this phase encompasses 50.09 crore electors, with 48.67 crore enumeration forms already circulated.
All participating states and UTs recorded a full 100 percent printing of enumeration forms, highlighting what officials describe as “robust preparedness and logistical efficiency.”
Uttar Pradesh, the largest state in India with over 15.44 crore electors, has completed 94.37 percent of its form distribution (equating to 14.57 crore forms), while Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat reported 98.38 percent (at 5.64 crore) and 98.58 percent (at 5.01 crore) distribution, respectively.
Rajasthan, which printed 99.58 percent of its required forms, has successfully distributed 97.32 percent (or 5.34 crore).
The southern states displayed varied outcomes. Tamil Nadu has distributed just over 92 percent (around 5.90 crore) of its printed forms, while Kerala reported one of the lowest distribution rates at 87.54 percent (totaling 2.43 crore), despite achieving full compliance in printing.
Among smaller Union Territories, Lakshadweep and Goa have reached near-total distribution at 100 percent, whereas Puducherry stands at 93.8 percent.
The enumeration process is being conducted by 5.33 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), aided by more than 10.41 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by recognized political parties.
The ECI has encouraged political parties to appoint additional BLAs to enhance scrutiny and transparency during the door-to-door verification phase.
With less than three weeks remaining in the enumeration period, the ECI is expected to intensify efforts in regions that are lagging to ensure comprehensive updates to the final electoral rolls.
