New Delhi, July 21 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has provided a report to 12 prominent political parties detailing over 29 lakh electors who have failed to submit their Enumeration Forms (EFs) as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar. Additionally, a list of more than 43 lakh electors who could not be located at their registered addresses has also been shared, according to an official announcement made on Monday.
“The CEO/DEOs/EROs/BLOs have convened discussions with representatives from all political parties, presenting comprehensive lists of the 29.62 lakh electors whose EFs remain outstanding, alongside the nearly 43.93 lakh electors who were untraceable at their respective addresses,” stated an ECI announcement.
All 12 major political parties have been urged to reach out to these unaccounted electors via their District Presidents and approximately 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents, as indicated in the statement.
As of now, under the SIR, 7.59 crore or 96.23 percent of the total 7.89 crore electors have been documented, according to the statement.
An ECI representative also disclosed that Bihar has become the inaugural state in India to ensure that all polling stations (PS) accommodate fewer than 1,200 electors.
“A total of 12,817 new polling stations have been established in Bihar to minimize long waiting times at polling locations,” he added.
According to the ECI, the draft electoral rolls, scheduled for release on August 1, 2025, will include the names of individuals whose enumeration forms are submitted by July 25.
“On August 1, EROs will open the floor for public objections regarding any additions, deletions, or corrections in the Draft Electoral Rolls, allowing a full month for this process,” the statement elaborated.
Up to now, 90.67 percent or 7.16 crore out of 7.89 crore electors in the state have submitted their EFs.
Among the 43.92 lakh electors unable to be traced at their addresses during the ongoing SIR, it has been reported that 16.55 lakh are deceased, 19.75 lakh are presumed to have relocated permanently, 7.5 lakh electors are registered in multiple locations, and 11,484 electors remain untraceable, as per the statement.
