Jammu, Dec 17 (NationPress) Lt Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha expressed concern over the rise of educated individuals engaging in terrorism, identifying it as a troubling trend alongside the significant issues of terrorism and corruption in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Both corruption and terrorism pose substantial challenges in J&K, and the involvement of some educated people in terrorism is especially alarming. Nonetheless, we are committed to making J&K free from these issues,” stated the L-G during the closing ceremony of a workshop on Basohli paintings at IIM Jammu.
He referenced the Northeast region, highlighting that terrorism has been “completely” eliminated there, and the Maoism threat has been significantly “contained.”
“It is essential that this issue is not solely addressed by the security forces; a collective effort is required from everyone,” he emphasized.
The L-G added that top commanders of militant groups in J&K have been neutralized, and local recruitment has come to an end.
He noted that attempts at infiltration by Pakistani forces are ongoing, but they are facing significant challenges.
“Those already present will soon be dealt with. I assure you. We must stop the divisions of ‘Andar wala’ and ‘Bahar wala’ as they serve no purpose and will be detrimental to J&K,” he remarked.
At the workshop's conclusion, local and national artists participated, and IIM students showed great enthusiasm for the event.
Over 400 Basohli paintings will be showcased permanently at the IIM campus to emphasize the cultural significance and artistic merit of this art form.
The L-G is actively leading security review meetings, noting that security forces and J&K Police are intensifying operations against militants, their Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle their operational networks in J&K.
Additionally, drug traffickers and peddlers have come under scrutiny from security forces, as it is suspected that funds from these illegal activities are used to finance terrorism.
