Srinagar, July 20 (NationPress) Jammu and Kashmir's Lt Governor Manoj Sinha asserted on Sunday that true peace cannot be purchased; it must be achieved by dismantling the entire terror machinery in the union territory.
At a gathering here, the L-G emphasized that the administration is focused on establishing a sustainable and equitable peace rather than merely buying it.
He stated that while no innocent individual will be harmed, those guilty will face consequences. The J&K Police is playing a crucial role in dismantling the terror infrastructure.
“The J&K Police bears a vital responsibility to eliminate the support network for terrorists, whether it be financial, logistical, or otherwise. It's essential to address not only the terrorists themselves but also the entire framework that facilitates terrorism,” the L-G underscored.
He criticized previous policies where individuals associated with terrorist activities were granted government positions while victims of terrorism were overlooked and left unsupported.
“The administration is now proactively working to rehabilitate families affected by terrorism. Numerous families have lost loved ones to these acts. In some cases, only elderly parents remain after their sons were brutally murdered. Thousands have fallen victim due to Pakistan's actions. On July 13, forty families of terror victims in Baramulla received appointment letters,” he noted.
“Some children lost their fathers when they were just two years old. Today, we are committed to recognizing their suffering and delivering justice. The vision of Naya Jammu and Kashmir is not merely a slogan; it reflects the changes that have transpired over recent years. Youth now wield pens and laptops instead of stones. Educational institutions operate year-round without disruptions. The era of separatist rhetoric and shutdowns is behind us,” the L-G declared.
“Now, our calendars are filled with national and international events,” he added.
L-G Sinha mentioned that the sound of gunfire has been replaced by the hustle of factories. People can now participate freely in religious and cultural celebrations like Muharram processions and Eid Melas, and families can enjoy outings without fear and watch films in cinemas.
“It is essential for the public to cooperate with security forces. True peace is more than just the absence of conflict; it embodies justice, opportunity, and hope. We are dedicated to making that peace a lasting reality,” he concluded.
Additionally, the L-G announced on Saturday that all properties belonging to terror victims that were seized by opportunistic individuals linked to terrorists will be returned to their rightful owners by August this year.
