Srinagar, Sep 27 (NationPress) The Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated on Saturday that the narrative propagated by terror organizations such as ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) on social media platforms is a matter of grave concern and must not be overlooked.
During a function here, the L-G emphasized the necessity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to unite against terrorism and actively challenge extremist propaganda to preserve peace and stability in the Union Territory.
The L-G cautioned against disregarding the narrative disseminated by TRF on social media.
“Remaining silent would be perilous, and it is crucial that we focus on countering such narratives,” the L-G remarked.
“There exists a direct link between combating extremist narratives and promoting peace and stability. The battle against terrorism is not solely the duty of security forces; it also falls upon the citizens. Over 40 lives have been lost to terrorism this year, and it must be eradicated not just by security forces, but by citizens as well.
“I urge the public to step forward,” he stated.
The L-G noted that despite enduring decades of hardship, Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing a significant transformation, with instances of stone pelting diminishing and local recruitment of terrorists decreasing.
“In times of division within a family, we must strive to restore order,” he added.
L-G Sinha mentioned that significant changes have occurred following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, marking a pivotal moment in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
He highlighted initiatives such as granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari community, reinforcing the Forest Rights Act, and launching Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas as reflections of the government’s dedication to social and economic justice.
“Equal rights are now being afforded to the Pahari community. No one can impede their rights. What they deserve will be granted to them,” he affirmed.
He stated that terrorism and left-wing extremism have significantly diminished across the nation, especially in the northeast, expressing confidence that Naxalism will soon be eradicated.
“Jammu and Kashmir has endured for too long, and the end of terrorism is imperative. Security agencies are fulfilling their responsibilities, and we, as citizens, must act responsibly and avoid engaging in any wrongful actions,” he asserted.
Under the vigilant supervision of L-G Manoj Sinha, security forces have revised their counter-terrorism strategies. Rather than solely focusing on the elimination of armed terrorists, security forces are conducting proactive operations against terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem.
