Is the Meeting of Tourism Secretaries in Srinagar a Defiant Response to Terrorism?

Srinagar, July 8 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated on Tuesday that the gathering of tourism secretaries from all union territories in Srinagar serves as a strong response to terrorism, symbolizing J&K’s journey towards peace, progress, and prosperity.

During the tourism secretaries' meeting, the L-G remarked, "Under the guidance of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, J&K is becoming an unstoppable force, destined to thrive."

He noted, "The tourism sector in J&K has experienced remarkable growth over the past few years. We have revitalized traditional tourism routes and expanded the scope of tourism. Our aim is to ensure that the advantages of tourism reach every part of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and transform lives. The advancement of the tourism industry hinges on a peaceful and secure environment. In J&K, while our security forces play a pivotal role in combating terrorism, the role of society remains equally crucial."

“Efforts by terrorists to derive support from society must be thwarted. The common people are rising against terrorism. The street protests opposing Pak-backed terrorists are encouraging signs for lasting peace in the valley. All of Jammu and Kashmir must unite to ensure that terrorists have no place in this stunning Union Territory,” the L-G added.

He expressed that following the development of the Tattoo ground in Srinagar, tourists may prefer Srinagar over Davos.

The residents of the Valley have publicly rejected the attempts by Pakistan-backed terrorists to sow division in J&K.

In the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, attributed to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), where 26 civilians were killed based on their faith, Kashmiris not only organized protests condemning this atrocious act but also welcomed this year’s Amarnath Yatra pilgrims with garlands and placards.

On the 6th of this month, locals traveled with their families from Srinagar city to Nuner village on the Baltal-Srinagar road to provide cold drinks and pure drinking water to Yatris returning after their pilgrimage.

In gratitude for this kind gesture, the Yatris stopped their vehicles and graciously accepted the hospitality of the locals.

On the same day, L-G Manoj Sinha participated in the 10th Muharram Muslim procession in the heart of Srinagar city, providing cold drinks and refreshments to the mourners. He joined the procession and offered a ‘Chaddar’ (Sacred Cloth) to the Zuljanah at the beginning of the procession in the Bota Kadal area of Srinagar.

Manoj Sinha was accompanied by minimal security to ensure that locals felt comfortable approaching him and sharing in the procession.
