The fatal event unfolded in Narwar village, located under the jurisdiction of the Mardah police station in the Ghazipur district. Additionally, three other individuals suffered severe injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment, according to authorities.

The incident transpired while locals were organizing the puja and setting up a pandal with green bamboo poles.

As per officials, a bamboo pole inadvertently touched a high-tension electric wire overhead, resulting in a deadly surge of electricity.

“While erecting bamboo poles for the puja, a tragic incident occurred due to contact with an overhead high-tension line,” stated SDM Sadar Manoj Pathak.

“Four people died on-site, while three injured were swiftly transported to hospitals in Mau and Ghazipur. Arrangements for support to the families of the deceased are being made,” he further mentioned.

Witnesses reported that some villagers were in the process of cutting and transporting bamboo to build the pandal. Tragically, the top end of one of the bamboo poles contacted the live wire, leading to electrocution among those handling it.
