New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) The Delhi Police apprehended three individuals from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the theft of Rs 5 lakh from the quick commerce service, Blinkit. Authorities recovered the cash, along with a motorcycle and an iPhone that were purchased using the stolen funds. Additionally, the financial assets related to the crime have been frozen.

As per a report from the Central District Police, a PCR alert was received on October 22 at the Ranjit Nagar Police Station, indicating that three men on a motorcycle had stolen cash from a Blinkit delivery rider.

A police team promptly responded to the scene and spoke with the victim, who stated that he had collected Rs 5 lakh from various branches of Blinkit. While riding his scooter near Satya Park, Shadipur, three men obstructed his path and forcefully took the money.

The victim's account was recorded, leading to the registration of FIR No. 452/25 dated 22/10/2025 under Sections 309(4), 309(6), 312, and 3(5) of the BNS at the Ranjit Nagar Police Station. An investigation was initiated.

Given the severity of the situation, a dedicated team was established, including SI Pooja, SI Sudheer, HC Anuj, Ct. Sumit, Ct. Ramavtar, and Ct. Vishnu, under Inspector Tribhuvan Negi's oversight, and overall supervision by ACP Patel Nagar.

The team conducted extensive searches, analyzing extensive CCTV footage from multiple sites. They identified the motorcycle used in the crime, confirming it was stolen.

Further scrutiny of the CCTV footage provided clear images of the suspects. Informants were employed, leading to initial insights that the suspects were likely residing in the Faridpuri area.

Local investigations revealed that the accused, originally from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, had been working as delivery personnel and were renting accommodation in Faridpuri.

Using technical surveillance, investigators traced mobile numbers associated with the suspects. Call Detail Records and location data pointed back to Gonda. Acting swiftly, the team went to Gonda and, with help from local contacts, arrested three individuals identified as Ram Avtar alias Ram, Sikander, and Veeru Sonkar.

At Ram Avtar's direction, they recovered Rs 1,37,500. From Veeru, they seized a Duke motorcycle bought with a loan obtained using the stolen money, and an iPhone acquired with the robbed funds. Sikander had deposited Rs 1,53,000 into his bank account, which has been frozen. The clothing worn by the suspects during the robbery was also recovered.

During questioning, the suspects admitted their guilt and disclosed that they had previously worked for Blinkit and Zomato, holding registered delivery IDs on both platforms.

It was also revealed that another accomplice, Manoj—who is currently evading arrest—was employed at a Blinkit outlet in Patel Nagar and provided critical information about the victim, including his route, vehicle details, and the knowledge that he was carrying cash.

Investigations are still ongoing with efforts to apprehend the absconding suspect. Despite their prior evasion, the trio confessed to their involvement in two additional snatching incidents reported at Ranjit Nagar Police Station.
