Ex-Servicemen Rally Hosted by Indian Army in Shillong

Shillong, December 18 (NationPress) A rally for Ex-Servicemen took place on Wednesday under the auspices of Headquarters 101 Area in the Happy Valley area of Shillong, as per official reports.
As stated by a senior Army official, the event saw attendance from over 300 Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, War Widows, and their families hailing from Meghalaya. This gathering was aimed at fortifying the bond between Veer Naris, veterans, their dependents, and the Indian Army.
The rally was honored by the presence of C. H. Vijayashankar, the Governor of Meghalaya, Lt Gen Sanjay Malik, General Officer Commanding, 101 Area, and Air Marshal IS Walia, AVSM, VM, Senior Air Staff Officer, Eastern Air Command, who engaged directly with the Veer Naris, Ex-servicemen, and their families.
“Their attendance highlighted the steadfast commitment and support from both the Indian Army and the State Government towards the welfare of Veterans and their families. The Governor underscored the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare and effectively addressing the challenges faced by Veer Naris and veterans,” stated an official announcement.
During the rally, a financial aid of Rs 20,000 was awarded to Veer Nari Silia Mary Kharbudnah. Additionally, sixty Veer Naris, Ex-servicemen, and widows were honored throughout the event.
A variety of stalls were established, offering services such as pension support, documentation assistance, banking, welfare schemes, medical benefits, and CSD items. Representatives from the Rajya Sainik Board, the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Record Offices, and notable banks including State Bank of India and ICICI Bank were present during the occasion.
Officials noted that these stalls provided a vital platform for veterans and their families to directly interact with military and civilian authorities, facilitating the resolution of any pending issues. Stalls from the state government were also available.
The event concluded with all participants feeling a profound sense of appreciation and assurance regarding the commitment of the Indian Army and the state government towards their well-being.
