Mumbai, Nov 22 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Saturday that the 26/11 attack was a significant assault on the sovereignty of India, akin to the Twin Towers attack in the United States which targeted American sovereignty.

"If a definitive response had been provided immediately following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, it is possible that such an incident may not have recurred," he remarked.

"Nevertheless, the landscape has shifted, and India now presents itself to the global community as a robust, capable, and decisive nation. Following the Pahalgam attack, India showcased its strength through 'Operation Sindoor' by targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan. India is a nation that takes bold actions. Currently, the nation's security framework has become exceptionally resilient. Before the Delhi bomb blasts, security forces thwarted a significant conspiracy by confiscating substantial amounts of explosives and weaponry," the Chief Minister elaborated.

He made these remarks at the Global Peace Honour event.

"Terrorists are incapable of engaging in open warfare, which is why they resort to clandestine operations. The battle against terrorism is ongoing. Each citizen must stay vigilant to combat terrorism, acting as the eyes and ears for security," CM Fadnavis emphasized.

During the event, Sadanand Date, a senior police officer and NIA Chief who exhibited remarkable bravery during the 26/11 attacks, was honored.

Despite suffering severe injuries from a grenade attack at the Cama Hospital, he stood his ground and confronted the terrorists, neutralizing them.

CM Fadnavis expressed that even though 17 years have passed since the tragic events of 26/11, the sorrow of that day lingers in our hearts, asserting that the Mumbai terror attack extended beyond the Taj Mahal Hotel or just Mumbai.

"This event serves to honor the martyrs of an incident that instilled fear in Mumbai and throughout the nation, as well as to keep their memories alive. He noted that terrorist organizations strive to create instability by targeting innocent citizens in Pahalgam. Such events highlight that the threat of terrorism remains, and all citizens must stay alert," he continued.

In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde remarked that the 26/11 attack was an assault on Mumbai's culture, spirit, and identity, asserting that Mumbai neither faltered nor was defeated.

"We provided a firm rebuttal to this attack. India's response to Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack signifies the nation's enhanced strength."
