Amaravati, March 30 (NationPress) In a deeply distressing event during Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, four individuals from a goldsmith family took their own lives in Andhra Pradesh's Satya Sai district.

Krishnama Chary, aged 55, along with his wife Saralamma, and their two sons, Santosh and Bhuvanesh, were discovered deceased at their home in Madakasira town on Sunday.

Upon receiving the report, police arrived promptly at the scene and transported the bodies to a government hospital for an autopsy.

Santosh and Bhuvanesh were students in Class 10 and Class 6, respectively.

Authorities learned of the tragedy when Krishnama Chary's father visited the residence that Sunday morning and found his son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons lifeless. He notified other family members and promptly contacted the police.

Investigators suspect that the family ingested cyanide, commonly utilized for the purification and coloring of gold jewelry. A police representative confirmed that a bottle of cyanide was discovered at the residence.

The investigation aims to determine whether Krishnama Chary and Saralamma first harmed their children before taking their own lives.

A police official stated that a case has been filed, with inquiries underway. They are gathering testimonies from family members to uncover the motives behind this tragic incident.

Initial findings suggest that financial struggles and familial issues may have driven the couple to this dire decision.

In a separate incident in Guntur, a six-year-old boy lost his life, and his brother sustained injuries due to mistreatment from their stepmother.

As per police reports, Karthik died after his stepmother, Lakshmi, forcefully pushed him against a wall. Karthik’s elder sibling, Akash, was also harmed during the incident.

Sagar, who married Lakshmi following the death of his first wife, had two sons with her. Reports of Lakshmi mistreating the children surfaced only after Karthik’s tragic passing.

The police have initiated a case and apprehended Lakshmi. The injured child has been taken to the hospital, and Sagar is currently being questioned by the police.
