Tragic Incident: Three Family Members Take Their Lives in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 11 (NationPress) Distressed over financial losses and debt burden, three members of a family in Telangana's Mancherial district died by consuming pesticide while the fourth was battling for life.
The family resorted to this extreme measure at their residence in Kasipet village within Thandur mandal of Mancherial district during the early hours of Tuesday. Three of them succumbed at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal on Wednesday.
Samudrala Mondia (60), his wife Sridevi (50), daughter Chitti (30), and son Shiva Prasad (26) ingested pesticides in a suicide pact at their home.
Upon hearing the screams, neighbors quickly alerted Emergency Health Service 108. The family was first transported to a government hospital in Bellampalli and subsequently to Mancherial. As their health deteriorated, they were later moved to MGM Hospital in Warangal.
Unfortunately, Mondia, Sridevi, and Chitti passed away on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Shiva Prasad was receiving treatment, and his condition remained critical.
According to local residents, Mondia operated a small 'kirana' (grocery) store from his home and also delivered milk. Prasad had been employed as a lab technician but left his job to invest in the stock market, accruing significant debt from various sources. After suffering heavy losses in online trading, he fled the house a year ago. Two months later, he attempted suicide by jumping into Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada, but was rescued by authorities and returned home.
Overwhelmed by pressure from creditors demanding repayment, the family tragically decided to take this drastic action.
It was reported that Mondia had informed relatives about the previous suicide attempt. Although they rushed to the home to intervene, it was too late as the family had already consumed soft drinks mixed with pesticides.
Authorities have initiated an investigation and registered a case.
