Three children from the same family succumbed to what is suspected to be food poisoning, casting a pall of grief over the entire Arwal district.

Meera Devi, the spouse of Mohan Thakur from Masadpur village, had been residing at her maternal home in Khiri for the last two months.

Her husband had traveled to Surat, Gujarat, for work following a marital dispute.

On Monday evening, Meera Devi prepared litti-chokha for her children - Nidhi Kumari (7), Vikas Kumar (5), and Akash Kumar (3) - and served them milk before tucking them into bed.

Later that night, all three children began to exhibit severe symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea.

They were immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where medical staff pronounced Vikas and Akash dead. Nidhi, in a dire condition, was sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) but tragically also passed away during treatment on Tuesday.

The news of this calamity swiftly spread, enveloping the area in a somber silence. Upon the return of the children's bodies after the post-mortem, the village was filled with cries of grief.

Mother Meera Devi was utterly devastated, while father Mohan Thakur began his journey back from Gujarat upon receiving the heartbreaking news.

Piyush Jaiswal, the SHO of Parasi police station, indicated that the initial investigation suggests food poisoning as the likely cause.
