Patna, Jan 24 (NationPress) Two young children tragically lost their lives due to severe burn injuries resulting from a fire incident in Patna district, Bihar, which has caused profound sorrow in the community.
The heartbreaking event unfolded on Saturday at approximately 2:30 PM in Danada village, located within the Bhagwanganj police station jurisdiction of Masaurhi.
As per local accounts, a fire broke out suddenly in a hut/barn where the children were present.
The victims have been identified as Priyanshu Kumar (7) and Mansi Kumari (3), the offspring of Vikas Kumar. The father was devastated following the tragic event.
“We were sitting nearby and didn’t notice when the flames ignited. Upon seeing smoke billowing, we rushed to the scene, but it was already too late,” Vikas Kumar recounted.
“While sifting through the charred remains, we realized both my children were trapped inside. Had we known sooner, we could have rescued them. I’ve lost my son and daughter,” he lamented.
Vikas Kumar mentioned that he had returned to his native village, Danada, from Chachasi in the Vikram police station area just two days prior.
His children had been living with their aunt and attending school there. He had brought them back to arrange their Aadhaar cards.
At the time of the fire, family members were engaged in agricultural work when the blaze erupted.
Upon being notified, Bhagwanganj police quickly arrived and initiated an investigation. The precise cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Bhagwanganj SHO Sujit Kumar confirmed the incident, stating, “Two children lost their lives in the fire. A seven-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl were playing inside the hut when the flames ignited. The fire's cause is still being investigated.”
The community is in mourning following this tragic loss.
The district police have retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
