As per official reports, five girls had ventured out to tend to goats when rain began to fall. They subsequently decided to bathe in a pond situated to the east of the village.

During their swim, three of the girls found themselves in distress as they began to drown in the deep waters. The remaining two girls, standing on the shore, hurried back to the village, crying out for help.

By the time villagers and relatives arrived at the scene, all three girls had already submerged.

Efforts were made to pull them out, but sadly, they were pronounced dead.

The girls have been named as Usha Kumari (11), daughter of Jeetan Ram, Mahima Kumari (10), daughter of Bhorik Ram, and Sunita Kumari (10), daughter of the late Surendra Pasi.

Their families are inconsolable, with sounds of grief resonating throughout the village.

Upon receiving the news, the Mohania police quickly arrived at the scene and transported the bodies to Sadar Hospital, Bhabua, for autopsy.

Station Officer Priyash Priyadarshi confirmed the tragic drowning and stated that necessary legal procedures are currently being carried out.
