Pantnagar, Nov 7 (NationPress) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami remarked on Friday that the aspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish a developed India can only be fulfilled if our farmers achieve self-reliance in various aspects.
During a 'Farmers' Conference' held to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the state, CM Dhami stated, “I consider it a privilege to be part of an ideology and political party that places a high priority on farmers.”
He emphasized that the BJP has consistently supported farmers, and under PM Modi's guidance, there has been an unprecedented empowerment of the farming community.
“The Prime Minister has committed to ensuring that the journey from seed to market for farmers is not only efficient but also enhances their income. Currently, financial support is extended to 11 crore farmers through the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi,” he mentioned.
According to him, there has been a remarkable rise in the minimum support price for all key crops, and farmers are also shielded through crop insurance.
CM Dhami highlighted the ongoing scientific analysis of soil through health testing and pointed out various farmer-friendly initiatives undertaken by the BJP government.
He also showcased efforts to promote tea tourism and integrate tea plantations with tourism, which have created new job opportunities for both youth and women.
The Chief Minister remarked that the government is committed to the welfare of farmers, mentioning, “We have allocated Rs 200 crore for the construction of poly houses to boost farmers' income. To date, 350 poly houses have been established with an investment of Rs 115 crore.”
“We have also increased the sugarcane rate by Rs 20 per quintal. Our administration is focused on enhancing the production of fruits and vegetables, along with the launch of new policies for apples, kiwis, and the State Millet Mission,” he added.
Finally, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to farmers for their participation in the movement advocating for the formation of a separate Uttarakhand 25 years ago.
