Mandya (Karnataka), May 6 (NationPress) A disturbing event unfolded in Mandya district, Karnataka, where a man took the life of the father of his daughter's rejected suitor in a quest for revenge following her tragic murder.
The victim has been identified as Narasimhe Gowda, hailing from Manikyanahalli village near Pandavapura in Mandya district. The suspect, Venkatesh, is currently evading capture.
Venkatesh's daughter, Deepika, a schoolteacher, was violently murdered on January 19, 2024, by 21-year-old Nitesh Gowda, the son of the slain Narasimhe Gowda, after she chose to end their relationship.
Law enforcement officials reported that Venkatesh had been plotting his revenge since the day his daughter was killed. Initially, he aimed to target Nitesh himself, but he was unable to execute that plan.
As fate would have it, Nitesh's sister was set to marry soon, with the ceremony planned for the following Sunday at the revered Hindu shrine Dharmasthala. This development sparked further rage within Venkatesh.
On Tuesday, as Narasimhe Gowda sat at a tea stall outside his home, Venkatesh approached him and fatally stabbed him. During the act, Venkatesh allegedly shouted: “You had my daughter killed, and now you’re preparing for your daughter’s wedding!”
The Melukote Police have filed a case and are actively searching for Venkatesh.
The roots of this tragedy trace back to the death of 28-year-old Deepika from Manikyanahalli in Pandavapura taluk. She was married and had an eight-year-old child.
On January 19, 2024, Deepika disappeared after leaving for school. When she failed to return, her family filed a report with the Melukote Police. Her scooter was later discovered at the base of Melukote. Following a search operation, her remains were uncovered on January 23, buried in that area.
Investigations revealed that Deepika had previously been involved with Nitesh Gowda. Despite her family’s warnings, she ended the relationship, leading Nitesh to deceive her into meeting under the guise of celebrating his birthday. Deepika brought him a new shirt as a gift.
At that location, Nitesh brutally assaulted her, killed her, and concealed her body before fleeing.
Authorities noted that Deepika was known for her social media presence and enjoyed creating reels in her community.
