Shillong, Aug 10 (NationPress) Security forces apprehended the fifth Bangladeshi suspect on Sunday, believed to be involved in an armed attack in a Meghalaya village along the India-Bangladesh border in the South West Khasi Hills district, as reported by the police.
A police spokesperson stated that the fifth individual, identified as Mubarak Hussain, was detained during a coordinated search operation by the Meghalaya Police and the BSF in the Chibak forest region.
Hussain was part of a group of eight to nine armed Bangladeshi men who crossed into Rongdangai village at midnight on August 7, assaulted a local shopkeeper, Balsrang Marak, and stole cash and valuables before retreating towards the border.
The Bangladeshi gang also kidnapped Marak, taking him towards New Rongdangai village.
During their escape, Marak managed to break free and fled from their captivity.
Villagers, aided by security forces, later pursued and apprehended four members of the gang.
