The BSF also confiscated 187 second-hand mobile phones from the Sepahijala district of Tripura.
A spokesperson for the BSF in Shillong stated that following specific intelligence, vigilant BSF personnel in Meghalaya arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, along with two Indian nationals from various villages adjacent to the India-Bangladesh border.
The Bangladeshi nationals were trying to engage in smuggling and illegally enter India with the assistance of two Indian touts.
In Agartala, a BSF spokesperson confirmed that in northern Tripura's Dharmanagar, four Rohingyas, which included two women, were apprehended along with two Indian touts who facilitated their unlawful entry into India from Bangladesh.
A specific case has been filed against these individuals.
The detained Rohingyas have been identified as Jahid Alam and Mantajul Haque (male), and Meen Tara and Putu Aktar (female), while the Indian touts are Munim and Iqbal.
Jahid Alam, one of the detained Rohingyas, disclosed that he paid Rs 25,000 to the Indian touts to assist him in crossing under the barbed-wire fence at Kailashahar in the Unakoti district.
Originally hailing from Myanmar, Jahid Alam informed the police that his intended destination was Delhi.
Authorities are probing the network involved in Rohingyas' infiltration into India, as security agencies remain vigilant against illegal border crossings.
The spokesman reported that a special ambush party of the BSF noticed suspicious movements of six smugglers on both sides of the India-Bangladesh border in the Matinagar area of Tripura's Sepahijala district, attempting to conduct smuggling operations.
Upon being confronted by the BSF, the smugglers fled to their respective sides. Further searches in the area led to the recovery of 187 used mobile phones of various brands valued at Rs 42.10 lakh. The seized mobile devices have been handed over to Customs for necessary legal proceedings.
