Tripura CM Highlights BSF's Technological Advancements for Enhanced Vigilance Along Indo-Bangladesh Border

Agartala, December 1 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha remarked on Sunday that the BSF personnel are dedicated to securing the entire 856 km border between India and Bangladesh through diligent maintenance of fencing, the use of advanced surveillance technology, and by building strong relationships with local communities.
During the 60th Raising Day celebration of the Border Security Force, senior officials disclosed that 55 Rohingyas are among the 675 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who have been arrested in Tripura this year, alongside the seizure of various contraband valued at Rs 46 crore.
While addressing the gathering at the headquarters for the raising day ceremony, the Chief Minister stated that new technologies are being incorporated to bolster vigilance along the border.
“We are also focused on enhancing border fencing and improving the welfare of BSF personnel. Your safety is our priority,” he asserted.
As the Home Minister, Saha stressed the importance of countering emerging technological threats posed by terrorist groups.
“Since terrorists are employing sophisticated technology to launch attacks against our nation, we must enhance our response strategies,” he stated, emphasizing that the BSF is relentlessly working to combat smuggling, unauthorized border crossings, and illegal migration.
BSF officials noted that during the Inspector General level Border Coordination Conference held with Region Commanders of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Shillong (Meghalaya) in July, crucial bilateral matters were addressed to improve cooperation between the two border security forces, promote the welfare of border communities, and sustain friendly relations between the nations.
A senior official revealed that during the recent turmoil in Bangladesh, the BSF, in collaboration with the BGB and other agencies, successfully facilitated the safe return of Indian students and workers from the neighboring country, offering them necessary assistance.
In addition, during the recent flooding crisis, the BSF provided support to the residents of Tripura, the official mentioned.
He further stated that the BSF remains unwavering in its mission to safeguard international borders and will continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of the state.
