Agartala, Feb 28 (NationPress) The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended 15 individuals from Bangladesh, comprising three women and seven children, in Tripura for their illegal entry into India, as reported by officials on Friday.
The BSF also took into custody three Indian facilitators who aided the Bangladeshis' unlawful ingress without proper documentation or passports.
A representative from the BSF stated that the 13 Bangladeshi individuals and the three Indian facilitators were detained on Thursday night in Kailashahar, located in the Unakoti district of northern Tripura.
All the apprehended Bangladeshis hailed from regions including Moulvibazar, Sunamgunj, Netragunj, Netrokona, and Barisal in Bangladesh.
The Indian facilitators have been identified as Kajal Das, Ajit Das, and Prasanjit Debnath.
Moreover, a special operation was conducted in collaboration with the Tripura Police, resulting in the capture of two Bangladeshi nationals in West Tripura who were attempting to return to Bangladesh.
The spokesperson mentioned that as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal border activities, a joint operation was executed with personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP) at the Agartala railway station. This operation led to the arrest of two Indian nationals involved in facilitating the unauthorized entry of Bangladeshis into Indian territory.
In a separate initiative targeting cross-border narcotics trafficking, BSF troops detected suspicious activities of Indian smugglers trying to move illegal goods across the India-Bangladesh border in the Sepahijala district.
Upon being confronted by BSF personnel, the smugglers abandoned their cargo and escaped towards the Indian side. A detailed search of the area resulted in the recovery of 20 packets containing an astonishing 20,000 Yaba tablets, valued at approximately Rs 2 crore. Furthermore, the BSF seized additional contraband worth Rs 16.80 lakh from various locations along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura.
