Dhamtari (Chhattisgarh), March 26 (NationPress) In a pivotal move aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods, the Chhattisgarh government has rolled out financial assistance for landless agricultural labourers in the Dhamtari district, fulfilling another vital commitment made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurances.
Under the Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Labourers Welfare Scheme, each qualifying beneficiary is set to receive an amount of Rs 10,000.
Officials reported that in Dhamtari district alone, over Rs 33 crore has been directly deposited into the bank accounts of more than 23,000 landless agricultural workers via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This financial support has been a source of considerable relief and joy among recipients, many of whom rely on seasonal agricultural work for their income.
Given the limited job opportunities during the summer, this timely aid has enabled them to manage crucial expenses, particularly amid the ongoing wedding season.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude toward both the state government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the Central government for delivering on the promise of annual financial assistance.
Pardeshi Soni, a recipient of the aid, mentioned that this support has arrived at a critical juncture when employment is scarce and expenses are elevated.
"This assistance has enabled us to fulfill our household needs. We appreciate the government for considering the welfare of people like us," he stated.
Another beneficiary, Sukhlal Netam, shared similar views, affirming that such welfare initiatives are substantially impacting the lives of underprivileged families.
"The government has honored its pledge. This financial aid is particularly beneficial during the marriage season," he remarked.
Khemraj Sahu, also among the beneficiaries, pointed out that the scheme not only provides monetary support but also instills confidence among labourers.
"We feel valued and secure. It demonstrates that the government is concerned about our welfare," he expressed.
Raja Pawar, a resident of Ward 1 in Dhamtari, welcomed the initiative, noting that the financial assistance has alleviated financial pressures for numerous families in the region.
The Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Labourers Welfare Scheme stands as a significant effort by the Chhattisgarh government to empower landless labourer households economically.
By providing consistent financial support, the scheme aims to enhance living conditions and foster social and economic self-sufficiency among the recipients.
After taking office, the BJP-led government in the state had committed to providing Rs 10,000 annually to landless agricultural labourers as part of "PM Modi's guarantee."
The launch of this scheme marks a step toward fulfilling that promise, underscoring the Union government's focus on welfare-oriented governance.
Officials highlighted that such targeted welfare projects are anticipated to bolster rural economies and offer a safety net to vulnerable demographics, especially those reliant on unpredictable agricultural earnings.
